Jay Nordlinger is a journalist who writes about a range of subjects, including politics, foreign affairs, and the arts. He is the music critic of The New Criterion. From 1995 to 1998, he was a writer and editor at The Weekly Standard. From 1998 to 2025, he was the same at National Review. He hosts two podcasts: Q&A and Music for a While. He has written a history of the Nobel Peace Prize—Peace, They Say—and a book about the sons and daughters of dictators: Children of Monsters. His essays are collected in two volumes: Here, There & Everywhere and Digging In. Since 2002, Mr. Nordlinger has hosted a series of conversations at the Salzburg Festival. A native of Michigan, he has long lived in New York.
