Gordon Wood is a national treasure. I know academics and intellectuals are frowned upon these days but his work on the founding has been indispensable. May it inform future generations.

forgive me Jesus, I IMAGINE a free political world where those people saluting the monsters, I mean mobsters, do the right thing and do something that thymes with salute them…

Leftists and Rightists living on the political edge are by definition contrarians and anti Statists…so both sides of the political spectrum will often have the same first causes of the causes of all the world’s problems…British colonialism, Zionism, Northern aggression, the Versailles Treaty…and therefore end up making excuses for Stalinism and Hitlerism…never ending timeline of blame, therefore never than celebrating Lincoln and Churchill, or giving credit where credit is due and celebrate the present good…but, like Fight Clubbers, not seeking to make anything better, but to destroy, to even the score

HANG MIKE PENCE. HANG MIKE PENCE. HANG MIKE PENCE “Pardon me. I am NOT done committing crimes” (hat tip Frenchie)HANG DONALD TRUMP…Ashli Babbitt still cannot be reached for comment, and the real November criminals are now and again on the loose. With all due respect to you and Jonah, there is nothing wrong with the pardon powers that be, it is with The Don that has them…and what has become of The Duma, I mean the U.S. Congress…name one man…or woman, the House or Senate with courage to confront psycho killer Presidente Duterte, I mean Trump. God help U.S.

Thanks for not referring to M.B.S. as the clown prince of…I am sorry to say this, as speaking of blaming all the Middle East problems on Nazism, I mean the Haus of Saud…the pseudo theocratic mobsters (I know, like Jonah, I do not like monocausal blaming…but) that have always been the gulf oil barons need to be erased from the face of the earth…like so yesterday. The same people that laud the Saudi playboy for being a reformer also praise Jared Kushner for signing a billion dollar bitcon treaty. Frankly, it was the Haus of Frauds problem with Israel’s very existence in the first place…The Don and M.B.S. are like Tony Soprano and Johnny Sachs meeting in plain sight. God help U.S.

When it comes to the murdered and maimed in the Ukraine…I think of our President rolling out the blood red carpet for Vlad the Impaler on American soil…and cannot help but hope and pray Dante’s Inferno is based on a true story…and, forgive me Jesus, hate my so called fellow republicans serving in The Duma and in the Cabinet all the more

I wish Condi would have condemned the President, I mean run for President while condemning The Don to his ugly, Orangeman face for betraying our nations Founders credo of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness…for all mankind…not just the lucky ones to be born here. What’s the Trump Show going to bring U.S. next July, a cage fight on the White House lawn….and FOXXXY News seek heiling The President. God help U.S.

My detractors like to accuse me of topping off the morning with…no…a pot of coffee does the trick for me…but cheers to Lane Kiffen

Thanks for taking my rant Onward and Upward. Gotta run on. My condolences to the lose of your great friend and exemplar R.I.P.D.P.J. ✌️🍺

I learned a lot when I read Sir Winston's descriptions of the Britain - US relationship during WWII. Churchill acknowledged and honoured Roosevelt's adherence to the limitations put on his cooperation by the American Constitution, and his duty to honour the preferences of Congress, as they reflected the demands of the people, however they may have differed from his own.

Would that might "IMAGINE" such an ideal today!

I think I lean toward *New* Haven, but now you've got me wondering. Maybe I give the same emphasis to each half, when I can? (Someone in my family lives near there, so it does come up in conversation.)

On Presidential Pardons: Yes, Trump and Biden both went way overboard on pardoning some real scalawags. However, I do not think the Pardon authority should be removed entirely. An amendment to provide a non-partisan "Pardon Board" to screen each individual seeking a Presidential Pardon would stop the silliness. Or voters will awaken and put up for election candidates that will have more integrity and character as did Washington, than those have been of late. (Ok, allow an old geezer to dream!)

"Non-partisan boards" tend to not be non-partisan. We have a system in which the 3 branches check each other; that should apply to pardons. Require a vote of Congress to sustain a pardon. Let members of Congress share the political heat. I also like the idea of suspending it between election day and the last day of a president's term.

I agree with your suggestion to include Congress in reviewing and confirming pardons. I do not agree with suspending the President's Pardon authority after election and before the next President is sworn in. The President is still President during that timeframe and must have all of the powers of the office. Your suggestion might lead to further erosion of Presidential powers during that time. Our Constitution did not allow that, and I believe it should be followed.

Gotta admit drank flows better than drunk. And to my friend below having not drunk for 43 years means I didn't die 42 years ago.

Just saying.
