Forgive me Father, for I have sinned, I have committed the cardinal sin of being a “mouth breathing dullard”…as alls my rants ever did was try to make one think a second time…and even better than the real thing, make one laugh, as I follow my own grammarly rules…Cass Sunstein makes me think of Bucks old quip of “would you rather” be misruled by the first hundred names in the Boston phone book (can’t you still smell it, not to mention remember curling with it) than Harvard faculty lounge acts (I found his interview with Jonah to be illuminating, in the sense of how utterly worthless good people in the loyal opposition are when it comes to the existential threat to our Republic that is all things Trumpism). To the Village Idiwitt, W.W.F.B.D. in these perilous times-IMEACH TRUMP, or would he say INDICT…Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti still cannot be reached for comment…oh, yeah, and neither can Ashli Babbitt…”Pardon Me. I Am NOT Done Committing Crimes” (hat tip David French..it is a tribute to him and all others that you all left rich white trash lowry behind). God help U.S. I have bored, I mean confused you , I mean my three readers to dullness, I mean…til death do us part, live long and prosper Jay. Gotta run on. Peace through superior mental firepower

Also, isn't Atwood Canadian? Shouldn't Newsom at least have given the Spanish Prime Minister an American novel? There are some pretty good ones, after all.

The Du Bois quote is beautiful but i think it's important not to divorce it from the accusation that immediately follows: "So, wed with Truth, I dwell above the Veil. Is this the life you grudge us, O knightly America? Is this the life you long to change into the dull red hideousness of Georgia? Are you so afraid lest peering from this high Pisgah, between Philistine and Amalekite, we sight the Promised Land?'

As far as I'm concerned, saying that someone's writing is not like Hemingway's is high praise.

I just read The Count of Monte Cristo, so Don Quixote will have to wait until the next long classic read slot comes around again.

You know him even if you don't know you know him! Enjoy the music.

Jay, you’ve GOT to read Don Quixote, ASAP. It is an absolute page turner, as your friend said. Because the time investment and all that is daunting, I went to the audio book (I happened to have access to the delightful George Guidall reading of the Edith Grossman translation) and once I got going, I couldn’t stop. It’s one of those classics that really does reward reading, not just retrospectively (“I’m glad I managed to read that”) but as you’re in it.
