Like “adult” bookstores, the internet mostly put streetwalkers out of business. Why walk a street when you can stay home and wait for a text through an anonymous messaging app?

I lived in Connecticut in the mid 70s and early 80s and visited New York City on the weekends. There were streetwalkers in mid town in those years.

I’ve seen plenty of street walkers in Brooklyn. That was maybe 45 years ago, however.
