What a great walk down memory lane, Jay. To paraphrase Ruth Marcus ...
This is ridiculous—embarrassing, even. I sneer at President Trump. I do not like President Trump. I voted against President Trump (five times, counting primaries). But if he adds the Saudis to the Abraham Accords and tames Iran, IMHO he'll deserve the peace prize at least as much as Lê Đức Thọ or Arafat.
"George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan could have said the exact same things—and they did, repeatedly. In fact, such language was the theme music of their presidencies."
While that is true, there were significant differences in the actions of Reagan and Bush with regards to our military. Their actions and policies strengthened our military forces. Obama began the DEI programs which emphasized factors other than merit and competence. Those actions were then increased under Biden. Those actions actually harmed our military morale and effectiveness. Fortunately, those are now being reversed by Sec. Def. Pete Hegseth. No matter one's opinion of Trump, that is a real positive for our military forces.
If you think a TV clown like Hegseth is capable of increasing our military preparedness via his performative gestures there is not much point engaging with you
Thanks, Jay, for the history lesson. I guess I wasn't paying attention in 2009.

That was very interesting.

He is certainly far better than the Biden Admins Sec. Def. and has already had a very positive influence on the morale of our forces.
