"Some readers have accused me of obsession."

If it's an obsession then I, for one, share it.

When I wonder about why Trump and the Trumists do not support Ukraine, I remember that, during the break up of Yugoslavia, Pat Buchanan supported Serbia, against the Bosnians and Croatians. But, to me, Serbian nationalism was the cause of the civil war, and the Serbians were the bad guys. Pat Buchanan and his paleo-con (as we used to say in those days) followers were bad guys, and they had an instinctive affinity with bad guys like the Serbian nationalists. I think it's the same with Trump and the Trumpists on Russia vs. Ukraine.

Thank you for making a "fuss" about Ukraine and our nation's - well, the Trump administration's** - abysmal treatment of Ukraine's leader and its people. As the Institute for the Study of War noted in its most recent Russian Occupation Update [ https://understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-occupation-update-july-3-2025 ], "Russia is training Ukrainian children to become drone operators for future service in the Russian military or employment in the Russian defense industrial base (DIB)." Why not? Who cares? Kidnapped children being trained to fight against the nation of their birth - if that doesn't outrage us Americans, nothing ever will.

** The Biden administration fell short (all the hemming-and-hawing and restrictions on how Ukraine could use American weapon systems), but at least they recognized our national interest in beating back Putin's war-criminal enterprise and advocated for Ukrainian territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

It feels weird clicking “like” on an article detailing the moral abyss into which America has fallen. Nothing we can do but tell the truth, I guess.

The failure of the Administration to support Ukraine, and the failure of Congress to do anything about it, will be a permanent stain on the reputation of the US around the world. Why should any of our soon-to-be-former allies trust the US? The narcissistic ignoramus in the White House and his circle of sick sycophants are creating a very dangerous and unpredictable world situation.
