Ever since Trump re-entered the White House and we saw what Trump 2: Electric Boogaloo was going to be like, I have been chronically furious. My heart is consumed with dark, vengeful thoughts. It took me a while to understand why I, a normally peaceful person, felt this way. It's grief. Our nation is being destroyed from within, and while we may eventually recover our democracy I fear it will not happen within my lifetime - and the American Century is over, never to return.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
May both of those promises come soon, for all of us in AINO.
There have been times in my life when I was ashamed of my US government. I was ashamed when I read about Wounded Knee. I was ashamed when I learned of My Lai. I've been ashamed of the Republican Party since January 6th, 2021. The departure of the current administration (gang of thieves) cannot come too soon.
This column made me think of an acronym of my own, if you'll forgive me working blue: FAJ. "Fuckin' A, Jay". Lots of hard truth in here. Thanks for telling it.
