The long and the short of it:

every Nordlinger column is a joy and an education - commentary, history, music, art, and whimsy.

I would be nonplussed over the acceptance of Presidential corruption, were in not for the reality that the one we have now was chosen despite a history of amoral thuggery, racial bigotry and infantile selfishness, by an electoral plurality dominated by self-declared "Christians" whose attitudes towards others offends the title of which they boast.

I cast my ballot for frequent short columns. Brevity is the soul of wit.

Love the Kodaks you sprinkle throughout your pensees. Please keep the photos coming.

Addendum (hat tip Geraghty, the deep, down coward he is) Oh, yeah, upon reading the comments

If I pay Jay to read Jay, why would I not care for more Jay to read…after all, I get more for what I pay for…did not I say I gotta run on

As my readers know…all three of them…I am a big anti anti anti anti Trumper…that is basically what any American in good conscience is…anti autocrats! God help U.S.

I have no use for people who would call the patriarch of the Haus of Fraud black gold crime family “Crown Prince”, let alone throughly despise the wickedly sinister Jared Kushner for merely shaking hands with a cold blooded murderer, the dick tator (hat tip Jonah) for life that still dresses in that horrible and throughly ridiculous carb…that I should like to one of his victims family douse the mobster, I mean monster, with oil and light him aflame so he goes out like Jamal Khasshoggi…in nothing but torment and pure pain…Did I mention the President of the United States son in law does billions of dollars of business with a so called monarch, the same M.B.S., emphasis on BS that should already be six thousand feet under….with his next door neighbor dick tator for life of crime Darth Vadar…Isn’t ironic one so Sunni and the other so full of Shiite can’t go along to get along because both believe their crime family should be the one and only theocratic, I mean kleptocratic powers that be in the Middle East…and both have a grotesque plagiary of the Old and New Testament (hat tip Hitch”) to prove it …Right now the A Hole A Tollah is just wishing he told Jared “Yes, you can build a Trump Hotel and Casino in downtown Tehroran, with the biggest Golden Arches in the world, if you let us kill anyone we need to in our sovereign terrortory!” Oh well, right now thousands of innocent, dead Iranians, just yearning to breathe free, families are wondering where is the midnight tweeker, I mean tweeter Don King Trump when you heed, I mean need him to live up to his shit posting …You think I am a bad writer, just take a look what cums out of the Bada Bing, I mean Oval Office late at night…God help U.S.!

In normal times, the two billionaire bitcon bros Uday and Qusay (I say K.D.W. saw me say that in The Dispatch years ago and subconsciously lifted it) would be in jail for tax evasion…as that is the reason for being, I mean taking the “‘World Liberty’ Financial” over in the first place….to evade “The Man” …and now their Dad is The Man. Again, take a good look at the mobsters, I mean monsters the Trump Crime Family is getting into bed with and then…nod your head in agreement with me Jay, like I have been telling you…. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS T.D.S. TRUMP IS A DERANGED SOCIOPATH who worships the almighty dollar, graves power (especially over good looking women) and desires adulation at his beckon and command like…a Dick Tator. Dear God HELP U.S.!

We the Living in Kakistocracy (hat tip Ayn Rand meets Allah Pundit, all peace and praise be upon Him), I mean Idiocracy (hat tip Mike Judge)

Gotta run on. Nobody’s home, I mean reading my rant anyway…Peace through superior mental firepower

I like to see a mix. Mostly short, frequent posts, but also an occasional post with depth.

I greatly enjoy whatever you choose to share, however & whenever you choose to share it...as is said "size doesn't matter"

I have taught writing for many years. I always disliked teachers who assigned writing of a certain length: write a 3-page essay. I'd tell students to write as long as necessary to accomplish their goal. I trust you to judge how long and when that should be.

Thank you, Randall!

Bravo, Jay, for your condemnation of "lives lost," a lazy platitude in any case—and in the context of industrial-scale murder, the veracity of which is being increasingly perverted by louts, a contemptible one.

Jay — we’re in Rome till Thursday, and we visited the Trevi Fountain last Friday. We got up close to it for free, under the wire (we’d heard about the new fee they’re going to charge).

There’s already an efficient system of hustling tourists through the line, down the steps to the area overlooking the pool, and toward the exit, so it won’t be hard for them to collect two euros from everybody in addition. We didn’t think being there was much fun, crammed shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of other tourists anxious like us to get pictures of ourselves in front of the fountain. The fountain seems bigger, by the way, than it does in the films, where it seems it would be easy just to climb in.

I loved how Shepard Smith routinely referred to the former governor as "our Blago." His 3 p.m. show on Fox made for great listening in the car while driving back from somewhere where I'd been for work. And Neil Cavuto had a great follow-up show. Saner days.

I'm for more columns, longer or shorter, and going deeper whenever you can. I have enjoyed all of your stuff here and at NR, but, admittedly, I haven't spent any time on your music reviews, so I can't comment on them. Whatever and whenever, keep up the good work!

Thank you, DM!

Mr. Nordlinger, I think your column length and frequency are about right, but I wouldn't mind an occasional deeper exposition on some of your points, for example today's section on Trump's corruption and the lack of appropriate response.

Jay Nordlinger's avatar

Many thx, Jay.

Think you are in the sweet spot and knowing that makes you the Obi Wan !

As they say...keep doing you.

Jay Nordlinger's avatar

Appreciate it, Don!

I think you should not concern yourself with any format, other than the one that suits your mood when you sit down to write. Three sentences, three pages, what does it matter? Do your best in any given day,it will be much appreciated, regardless of length or frequency. Best,

Dan

Thx a ton, Dan.

I vote for longer and more frequent! (Joking not joking.) Seriously, I’ll take whatever you give us.

I always appreciate your reminders that we’re not crazy. Or if we are crazy, at least we’re not alone.

Thank you, Jon!

Mr. Nordlinger, I must say that I have found your briefer, bullet point styled articles to be the most effective. I can follow up, or, if short on time, just register your point and move on.

As much as I enjoy articles in The National Review or The Dispatch, there are times when I am overwhelmed by the depth of the articles, and am compelled to move along. God knows I try, but I'm older and now on my own, and life sometimes intrudes.

Please consider this a vote in favor of your current program, at least for the Onward and Upward page.
