I spent a few weekends in Salzburg many years ago, when I was doing a semester abroad in Vienna. One of those weekends was during the festival. Standing in the square, surrounded by churches ringing their bells--magical. Your Salzburg journals bring all those memories back. Regarding the siren, my husband used to tell an excruciatingly long "joke" involving a saxophonist, the European siren and "Over the Rainbow." Every time I hear that siren, I think of him.
