As a history buff/major, Great Britain and Egypt were always on my bucket list to visit. I love their history, especially their ancient history, with the time of the pharaohs for Egypt and the pre- and early monarchs for GB, etc.
At one time, I thought I would get to do that. The older I get, the less likely it has become, life just got in the way...sigh
So, it is always nice to live vicariously through others' words and pictures of their visits. thank you
Loving the walking tour of London, Jay. It has me going over the photos I've taken when walking about that City myself. One was taken of me on the base of the Nelson's Column, leaning on a lion! ... and thanks for the Cole Porter reference in your Shakespeare discussion. I kowtow to you!

I bought Van Doren's Shakespeare after reading your column. Now I read it before I read one of the plays and it helps. Next up, Henry IV Pts I and II.
