I selfishly vote for Jay to move to Italy so we get a steady stream of items like these.
In re foreigners pronouncing English, they have it right when they say “iron”. “EYE-run.” We say “EYE-urn”, which is not the way it’s spelled. Mebbie they can help us with our own crazy language?
Thanks, Jay, for another fine column on Italy: the people, places, history and customs (seasoned with your wry and gentle humor). Thanks also for the Eubie Blake quote, which I am going to commit to memory.
Thanks for taking me Jaywalking to start the day. Life is still beautiful…in spite of the magnificent mile pic that exemplifies the good, bad and ugly mankind has to offer….speaking of pitchforks, if “European History” class rings a bell, I hope the guys that built that castle are in…As we the people that did not much celebrate the Sasquatchcentennial declaration of war for independence from a King have a wannabe Don King Trump who sees a mansion like that and wants to build one gaudy cheap rip off of it with other people’s money right now in our sacred nations capital. Sorry I cannot take the old jazzman’s advice…and forgive me Jesus, I really, really, really do hate trump for what he has done to our country, I mean Western Civilization. God HELP U.S. Take him…I mean Calgon take me away. Eat well Jay (is it not sophisticated to have melted chocolate ready for vanilla ice cream…Molto bene) Here’s hoping I at least sometimes make you laugh out loud. All I want is ✌️&❤️ on this planet…and psycho killer anti truth sociopath Neo nationalists wannabe Il Duce’s off it (is that the Palace Mussolini was taking to when he was arrested, after Italy surrendered and flipped sides in WW2?). Gotta run on. Thanks for taking my rant. Peace through superior mental firepower

Thanks to my local Italian market, I can now cast my vote in favor of mortadella. And sopreesa. It is time for a return trip this week!
My mother-in-law lived in the palace at Caserta when she was in the Red Cross during WWII. You can read about her experiences here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=army%2Bguy%2Bred%2Bcross%2Bgal%2Bbook&crid=2HQL4KTZE8JBX&sprefix=army%2Bguy%2Bred%2Bcross%2Bgal%2Bbook%2Caps%2C243&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
