Great column. The shift toward authoritarian models such as "common good" and integralism has long just seemed to me to be a symptom of our easily-distracted social order, where people spend the majority of their time staring at their screens instead of interacting with others and with nature. Thus, they never develop an understanding, let alone a tolerance, for different viewpoints. I never cease to be amazed by people's unwillingness to liberate themselves from their own bubbles.

Any words out of the mouth of Marco Rubio will always be, "the sign of the times".

Can someone tell me why Orban fanboy Rod Dreher gets a very prominent place at The Free Press? As usual Jays says what I think but can't quite articulate. I am with David Frum in the idea that Poppa Bush will rival Polk as our greatest one term President.

Freedom *from* other people strikes me as one of the great virtues of liberalism. In imitation of John L. Lewis, whose powerful expression of freedom Jay mentions in his "#ExGOP" piece for NR, long may we disaffiliate.

I will fight for your right to party… I mean life, liberty and the pursuit of liberty…as I would only be to happy to hit any “post liberal” over the young luster, I mean butthead with a copy of the Declaration of War for Independence and be happy to inflict, I mean edify the numskull with how lucky he…or she is to have been Born in the U.S.A.!!! In defending your liberty, I am defending my own…not to mention it is for the common good…of Planet Earth. Sorry to be short with you all…but since you asked…An advocate for Liberal Democracy cannot be blunt, I mean bold enough to…Where have all the good Republicans gone, for I cannot think of a single man…or woman with courage enough to confront the preppy school yard bully Don King Trump, or just one of his willing henchmen…all of whom belong behind bars, or six thousand feet under for their high crimes against our Republic and humanity itself. God HELP U.S. We the Living in Kakistocracy, I mean Idiocracy. A Banana Republic if we do not get rid of it. Gotta run on. Thanks for taking my rant Onward and Upward. Peace through superior mental firepower 🤪🍻✌🏼
