This is terrific, I look forward to reading it.

I just finished reading a memoir written by the former musical assistant to Leopold Stokowski. She was also the assistant musical librarian for the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra during a portion of Stokowski’s time as conductor and during Eugene Ormandy’s time (the two conductors apparently hated each other). Among other things, I learned who the concertmaster is in an orchestra and why the members of the orchestra tune their instruments to an “A” from the principal oboist, which is then repeated by the concertmaster.
