It will never cease to bother me that not one Congressman has had the balls, or just the brains to demand then, let alone NOW, for Don King Trump to put up, or answer for, the white trash riot he is 100% responsible for causing and for such Congressman to call out the President of the United States for being a pathological liar that has yet to have one of the “2,000 Mules” arrested, let alone rightfully executed for rigging the election because….THEY DO NO EXIST and Ashli Babbitt was rightfully shot for participating in a conspiracy to overturn a free and fair election for a Anti Truth Neo Nationalist Sociopath…and six years gone Jay, you writer of yet another victim of our pure rich white trash’s policies…and there is not a peep of outrage in Washington because Congress has become the Reichstag and the loyal opposition party is a bunch of cowards and downright fools that do not have the sense to fight Heat Miser in the flesh with FIRE..proverbially that is…
That Kamala Harris did not have the chops to call out the biggest POSPOTUS to ever live as nothing but a racist piece of grap when he literally said “they are eating pets” and she did not have the sense to look into the camera and say to anyone that would believe this piece of human garbage I do not want your vote and truly wish you did not live in my country you racists…Not to mention Kamala should have said to The Don when he repeated his BIG LIE she should have said “just show me the proof ” and Joe and I will resign our Offices and I will personally swear you back into the Oval Office on a first edition copy of your Trump Bible. Excellent column, Jay! Susan Collins is her own person and one of the few remaining Republicans willing to lose over her beliefs. She represents Maine well but is not putty in the voter's hands. When Trump first announced deportations, it was only for violent criminals who entered the country illegally. That has been nothing of the sort and good, honest, hard working illegal aliens who have paid their taxes and have no record, are being deported. Jay, if you haven't, you must read Rick Reilly's bestseller "Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump." It is both funny and infuriating knowing how Trump flagrantly flaunts the rules, whether or not he is being watched. There are anecdotes galore and they all have a quoted source. Rick was a friend of Trumps for many years but confesses ' I will no longer be if he reads this book.' The book, if the reader can make the connection between Trump the President and Trump the cheating golfer, does an excellent job explaining his conduct...and it's humorous too!

Excellent piece,as usual,much appreciated. Just a thought about the forest,not a specific tree. I feel strongly that the lack of shame and responsibility for one's words that social media engenders is a huge issue. Mike Tyson (yes!) put it best. "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it". Go argue with that!

While neither a fan, nor an opponent, of Susan Collins, news that she had promised to serve two term and is in her fifth, is the let down we were promised.
"I assumed he was on the phone. But there were no buds in his ears."
I noticed people like that in the gym yesterday. I think there must be new technology that allows people to be talking on their phones with no visible accessories.
There were also people listening to music "out loud" or watching videos - including in the bathroom - as if they imagined they were in a cone of silence or didn't care.
Susan Collins is four years older than I am. This week I spent lots of time checking on my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their various dogs.
Susan spent her time not reminding a reporter that her opponent was married to their second cousin.
I am less sympathetic to Susan Collins because politically she would have a much easier time challenging Trump in a state that never came close to voting for him, then all the other Rs in states which did vote for him, like Cheney. Indeed it would be to her advantage like her neighbor Governor Scott to push back and not just the occasional contrary voice, but to simply call crazy, crazy.
