America, we have a collective action problem. Unlike Rightist Trumpers and Lefitst harumphers, I do not lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those that do. Respectfully Jay, I adore you (I literally, soul searchingly, only renewed my N.R. subscription because you were still on its soul dying, I mean crushing payroll…only for you to back off a week later🤪). To wit, let U.S. not make a black mountain after a troll hill like The Don gets his trolling bait off. One can only hope for the two kids that lost their father (but forgive me Jesus, I pray for their mothers soul for sleeping with the jerk) and hope the 22 year old gets a taste of his own bad medicine (I, in good conscience, believe in the death penalty for murderers). The ghastly execution of a right is wrong shock radio host is no more representative of America the Beautiful than another ghastly faces of death video gone viral of a young nobody at the knee of white trash policeman’s is representative of all white policemen…George Floyd should only be a household name to those watching the Minneapolis local news the day as he lay dying (can’t help myself with the pop culture allusions of which were so molding of my mind) was caught on candid cell phone camera…Just as the loser who chose to summarily execute another man is representative of anything other than his own depraved soul. In other words, it is what I call not necessarily the News (always keep in mind what they would have been wasting airtime with if it didn’t bleed and lead).

But speaking of executions, the man who made like President Duterte and ordered the summary extinction of 11 boats peoples suspected of drug smuggling and their assassins are still at large…I mean The Don is still in the Bada Bing, I mean Oval Office and all his willing henchmen are still at large (respectively Jay, if you are against the death penalty, you should be for the arrest and conviction of the cowards that followed an amoral order). God HELP U.S. Gotta run on (high Brownie). Thanks for taking my rant Onward and Upward. Peace through superior mental firepower

I said to some of my younger relatives take a cursory look at 1963-76 in this country and ask if that is how you want to live.

I'm a little older than you, Jay. I was in 3rd grade when JFK was assassinated. I remember 1968. When my daughter, now 43, bemoans (with reason) the current state of America. I tell her that the late '60s were worse; scarcely a day passed, it seemed, when a bomb did not go off somewhere in America. As Lincoln said, "We must be friends." The consequences of civil war do not bear thinking about.

Thanks, Jay. We could sure use a lot more politicians like Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah right now.

FULL DISCLOSURE

1. My son recently moved to Charlotte. He rides the train to work every day. I told him to assume everyone was armed.

2. Had the monthly GOP County meeting last night. The Chief of police had detailed us an officer for security.

Sadly, "Hate" is eternal, and we see far too many today who harbor hatred for others and want to do them harm. As an old geezer retired fighter pilot who flew two tours in Vietnam and remembers the hatred from the left toward all returning Vietnam Vets, I sincerely believe that the left's/progressives successful push to reduce consequences for those committing crimes, no matter how serious has allowed these heinous acts to occur. The "No Bail" laws in far too many states that allow criminals with multiple convictions and arrests to be allowed to run free. DA's who do not charge criminals for the serious crimes they commit, reducing the charges which allows the criminal to run free. Leftist Judges who do not hold criminals accountable for their crimes. Perhaps, we will have strong politicians rise up and stop this downward spiral and begin to hold those who commit crimes accountable. Further, we need to actually take action to help those with mental illness, but to confine those with serious mental illness who are a threat to others.

Hate speech spewed so easily over airwaves, endorsed by too many, accessible to all,is a cancer among us.

Thank you, Jay. It’s a shame that some of things need to be said, but they really do. I feel that part of the problem is people (both left and right) treat politics as their religion now, and find their ultimate source of meaning and identity there. My recommendation: go for a walk on a nice fall day, spend time with your family, at your house of worship, or cultivating your other interests and hobbies. Make friends in some of those circles. I think you’ll find that some of this stuff that we get so angry about really isn’t as important as we think it is.

An ironic footnote to the Kirk killing: The musical group The Wailin' Jennys was scheduled to perform at Utah Valley University tonight (obviously now canceled). One of their most popular songs is the uplifting "One Voice". When the audience sings along to it during their concerts, it is very much like a church congregation singing a hymn. Very calming. It is what we need now.

"At the murderer, there is outrage. (More, I believe, than at the murderer of many more Ukrainians in Ukraine—namely, Vladimir Putin.)"

A mentally ill career criminal could kill you, J. Random American, as you go about your normal activities. Vladimir Putin is not going to kill you, J. Random American, as you go about your normal activities.

More than a million people have been killed since 2/24/22, because of Vladimir Putin. That’s not counting Alexei Navalny, or, his former henchman, Prighozin, whose aircraft “mysteriously” exploded.

Yes, that's true. However, it's not a personally immediate threat for most Americans in their daily lives. "This could happen to me," is a significant motivator for "outrage."
