Wonderful conversation, but with one nit to pick. I attend Artis Naples concerts and the musicians typically introduce each piece. While this may be unnecessary for those of you w/more expertise, for us novices some information about the composer and where the piece fit in his or her career and times is invaluable. Before a Philharmonic performance the guest conductor or soloist comes out and has a brief conversation with one of the Artis Naples leaders and then takes questions from the audience. I make sure to never miss these "preludes".
Curious, Jay, how you consume your music? Given your travel schedule, vinyl would be impossible, but other formats might be less than satisfactory to the educated ear.
